I thought I’d do a slightly different blog post this week and tell you about the Quay sunglasses that I have. I’d never heard of Quay Australia until I started watching youtubers and also their snapchats. They seemed too good to be true as they looked cool and didn’t cost a fortune! Only problem was, these are an Australian brand and not so easy to get hold of the latest styles over here.

So I got my first pair from a site called White Fox Boutique (in Australia). These were the Amanda Steele Muse sunglasses in Gold, they came really quickly and I think cost about £40 at the time and £10 postage, not bad. Just don’t forget you also have to pay customs so be prepared to spend another £20 (ish) for that too! I loved these sunglasses on the model and the youtubers I saw wearing them but they were too big for me. I do have a very small head and unfortunately these keep sliding down my nose so I can’t wear them :(

The next ones I got I managed to get from ASOS so no expensive postage or customs, yay! I Love aviators so I’m going to write about all of these style ones first so you can compare and see the size and shape differences. The next ones I got were the Vivienne’s in both Gold and Black. Unfortunately, these didn’t sit straight on my nose as you can see from the photos they are both wonky! Really not having much luck with aviators!

The next aviators I tried were the collaboration with youtuber Desi Perkins called High Key. These sold out so quickly I only managed to get them in black, although they also came in gold at the time. I love these! I didn’t think I would because they are more of a straight frame and I thought they would be too big for me but I love these and they fit perfectly on my nose (hallelujah!) Only thing is that I stood on them not long after getting them and now they are slightly bent and don’t sit perfectly anymore! (I’m just not destined to have the perfect pair am I!) I had to get these direct from the Quay Australia site as they were limited edition but because these were so popular Quay are still selling these. Desi and Quay came up with a new colour, blue, and I am desperate to get these and currently on a waiting list for when they are restocked!

Just want to quickly talk about the differences between these 3 aviator styles before going on to show you my other styles. The Muse and Vivienne are more of a rounded frame whereas the High Keys have a straighter frame with a flat lens. The Muse is the only one that doesn’t have the frame around the whole lens just runs across the top these are also (very) mirrored lenses. Can I just say how difficult it is to take a photo of sunglasses without a bright reflection in the lenses! I apologise if that is distracting! Muse probably has the smallest lens size but not much smaller than the High Keys and these are still big oversized lenses. And the Vivienne’s are huge!

Onto my two other styles, these were both from ASOS too and were only about £25-£30.

The first pair are Barnun, a big squared lens with a fat black frame, these remind me of Buddy Holly.  I love these, these are so comfortable because they don’t have those little plastic bits that sit on your nose, it is just the frame that sits there. This isn’t a style that I thought I could wear but thought for £25 I’d try them and I’m so glad I did!

Quay My Girl

Quay My Girl

The second pair I got that were out of my comfort zone were the My Girl mirrored sunglasses. Again it is the frame that sits on your nose so really comfortable.  Never thought I’d ever wear anything like these but I love these too! They have a cat shaped lens which is so on trend right now and a mirrored blue lens, so cute. They add a little quirkiness to an outfit. These were £30 and are my secret favourites (after the High Keys!).

So overall I’ve had some hits and misses with Quay sunglasses. But there are so many styles that's bound to be the case. I really struggle with hats and glasses, trying to find ones that suit me and I think it’s because I do have such a small head, my husband calls it a 'pip head'gotta love him right?! Lol

I love Quay because they do have so many styles and very affordable (apart from when you want the latest limited edition and ship it over from Australia!) but I have a pair of Rayban’s (yes, aviators) and they are my babies I love, love those but I’m terrified of breaking them as I am really clumsy (as you saw with the High Keys) and they were expensive! So I love being able to have a pair I can chuck into my bag and carry around with me and not have to worry too much about scratching them as I could afford to get a replacement if I needed to.
