I have to write about the Moon Child Glow Kit from Anastasia because it’s so different from any other highlight palette out there. It’s different because the highlighters are blues and greens and purples. And who would have thought you could highlight with these colours?! Well, Anastasia did! And I thank the lovely lady for being so adventurous. I am so in love with this glow kit, I don’t have any other highlighters by Anastasia to compare the quality with but these are lovely and creamy and so pigmented you don’t need a lot of product (unless you want a purple stripe on your cheekbone that is!)
I love these colours especially for the winter as they are cool wintry colours, the blues make me think of the snow and ice.
Let’s look at the colours, as you can see from the photos of the palette and the swatches, some look very different from when swatched, so bear this in mind!
Blue Ice – The number of times I’ve gone for this one expecting a whitish highlight and applied it and been left with a purply-blue on my cheekbones….. This also has very small flecks of glitter but not enough to notice it on your face.
Star – This looks like it will be more of a blue but is actually more white, so if you want a white highlight go for this one and not Blue Ice! This one has no glitter.
Purple Horseshoe – This looks purple and is purple! It’s a very blue toned purple, I love this one if you want a little bit more colour in the highlight, as opposed to a highlight of ‘light’ if that makes sense?? This one has a teeny about of glitter like Blue Ice.
Pink Heart – Another deceiving one! Again this looks quite white, but when applied it’s very pink. Now, normally I sway towards the pink highlights rather than the whites or golds (love MAC’s Soft & Gentle) but this is my least favourite colour in this palette as it’s too pink and the most unnatural glow in the palette (I know how crazy that sounds when we’re talking about blue and purple highlights!) but trust me this just stands out too much. This might be better used as a highlighting blush maybe? This one also has the tiny bit of glitter.
Lucky Clover – This is the only green one in the palette but it’s my favourite because it leaves a gorgeous glow to the cheekbones and compliments your blush better than the others. It has a gold sheen to it rather than the white of the others. If you asked me a year ago would I ever wear a green highlighter, I would’ve looked at you like you were insane, but there you go, don’t knock it til you’ve tried it! This has no glitter,
Blue Moon - Lastly but far from the least, this is another blue but a very white based blue, another one I tend to sway to more. The blue and purples just leave a kind of mystical glow and I am so in love with them. This one also has no glitter. This swatches pretty true to the colour in the palette.
Overall this is by far my favourite collection of highlighters, as I said especially for winter, not sure I’d use it so much in the summer but for the winter it’s perfect, The only colour I don’t like so much is Pink Heart, but there’s 5 other shades I will use all the time. As for the packaging, it’s a small palette which I love, it’s cute and compact, there’s no mirror but I prefer that as it stays light. There is a really good magnetic close which is very satisfying when it snaps shut. And the iridescent blue design of the packaging is just stunning. Perfect size to carry in your bag.
This retails at $40.00 so the same as the other glow kits but you get 6 colours instead of 4. It’s a bargain and the quality is so good!
Great Christmas present ;)
